How to book

Haringey schools

In January all Haringey schools are invited to apply for a residential trip to Pendarren for the following academic year.  There is a closing date for applications, followed by the process of allocating weeks and then Pendarren will contact the school with an offer including terms of conditions.  Schools cannot confirm acceptance of this offer until the prices are released, typically in March. This process is usually completed by the end of April and after this any vacant weeks are available to any school. Please contact Pendarren if you wish to know who the application forms are sent to in your school, or you wish to be sent a copy directly.

To confirm acceptance of an offer schools pay a deposit (per pupil) on Haringey’s Traded Services on-line portal.  Please be realistic with the number of pupils you intend to bring. Pendarren House will be committing staffing and resources to your trip from this time and you may be financially penalised if you drop numbers at late notice. You can amend numbers without penalty if you give enough notice. Full details on how much notice you need to give to reduce numbers and any penalties involved are in the terms and conditions (which is on the portal and also sent with the offer).

Later your school may also need to register the trip on e.g. EVOLVE.

Once schools have booked on the portal there are some deadlines for sending information to Pendarren so we can ensure we have the resources in place. Please ensure you send the information required by these deadlines as it is increasingly difficult to arrange some requirements at short notice e.g. staffing and visits to Big Pit.

Deadlines for booking

Group confirmation form  Confirm the total numbers you are sending. This should be the same (or less) than the numbers agreed with Pendarren unless you have contacted Pendarren to agree an increase in numbers.

Supervising adult consent form For the adults who will be accompanying your group

Pupil activity group lists  Who will be in each activity group (Primary school operate in groups up to 13 pupils, secondary 10 pupils)

Bedroom lists Who will be in each bedroom

These forms are all on the Downloads page.

Schools are invoiced after the trip as there are discounts for those eligible for free school meals at the time of the trip (which cannot be determined in advance).

Please contact Pendarren if you have any specific enquiries e.g. relating to behavioural issues, disabilities, dietary or medical needs.

Please note that schools need to arrange their own coach transport to Pendarren House.

Would financial assistance enable some pupils to participate in the residential trip?

The Tottenham Grammar School Foundation have for many years supported Pendarren House and helped Haringey schools financially to enable all students to attend, and wish for this to continue.  To do so they have offered to increase the funding available to Haringey schools visiting Pendarren to help those families with limited resources fund a place on the schools trip.

To ensure all schools and their teachers are aware of the possible support available from the Tottenham Grammar School Foundation they have produced an Information Note: Somerset Grants and Pendarren.  Included in the note is specific information regarding Pendarren House and how to apply; as outlined in the note they are aware of the benefits of a residential trip to Pendarren House and so there are some sections you do not need to complete in as much detail.

Support is available for those in need, but schools need to apply (in advance)!

Missed the January window for booking?

To find out which weeks are available for the three accommodation blocks see the Availability on the downloads page and then contact Pendarren to see if we can fit you in.

Schools and groups from outside Haringey

Pendarren House is available to out-of -borough schools once the Haringey school booking procedure has been completed (usually early in the summer term for bookings relating to the following academic year).

See the availability chart on the downloads page for vacancies and then contact Pendarren House to discuss your requirements.
