Courses

Core themes

All courses have elements of environmental education and personal development.

The courses are designed in consultation with the group leaders to ensure the group gain the most from their visit.

Groups may choose from a range of adventurous outdoor activities and environmental studies, or we can tailor the course to meet specific curriculum or development requirements.

We can offer:

ENVIRONMENTAL AND FIELD STUDIES, which can include visits to the areas many attractions such as Big Pit where a coal miner will take you down into a deep coal mine.
Field studies in geography and biology, or have a mix or field studies and adventurous activities. Art, music, English, history are all subjects that can be studied whilst at Pendarren.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE:

Canoeing and kayaking on the local canal, the River Wye, River Usk, Llangorse lake, reservoirs and the Gower coast.

Rock climbing and abseiling on the bouldering wall, on-site tower or off-site on local crags, the Wye valley or by the sea on the Gower peninsula.
Caving in one of the thousands of caves here in south Wales (where we some of Britain’s longest and deepest caves!).

Mountain walks in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Adventure Gorge walks – not so much walking, more sliding, jumping, climbing up and down the rocky ravines. You will get wet!

Orienteering – use your brain and your legs to navigate your way around the course. We have a variety of courses to suit all abilities: a number of on-site courses including indoors, and a variety of woodland and moorland challenges.

High Ropes tower with its 7 challenges.

Problem solving as stand – alone challenges or linked into an extended team development project.

Other activities can be arranged through other providers at an extra cost e.g. horse riding

DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD expeditions and residentials
